It’s official – gardening is cool again.
About 4000 people attended the first Nelson Growables Garden Fair at Founders Park on Sunday, proving that green is the new black.
The NPA helped fund the fair to get out the good word about gardening and programme manager Richard Butler said he was delighted with the turn out.
“We were hoping for about 1000 people – so to see 4000 come along is great,” he said.
“It shows there is a real swing in momentum back towards gardening which is a healthy sign for the region.
“Gardening is a great form of exercise and it also provides fresh veggies for the table – so naturally the NPA is right behind anything that promotes gardening.
“The beauty of Growables was that it brought it all together so you could get inspiration, expert advice and good quality products all in the once place.”
