Low cost recreation programmes are running in Awatere, Havelock, Renwick and Picton with each Hub offering a range of options and activities designed to meet the needs of its community.
The Havelock Hub runs an active Judo club, Renwick has commenced Zumba classes and Picton has held open days at the Rowing Club gym to encourage the attendance of people interested in joining.
The Marlborough Hubs Advisor Kim Willemse is very excited about the upsurge in hub activity. ”Each hub tailors its activities to its local community. The activities are aimed at people who don’t go to fitness classes or usually do anything physical.”
More activities are planned for all Hubs. Volunteers from each Hub are attending a course at the beginning of June in Nelson to certify them to teach group exercise class. The course will focus on ‘Sit and Be Fit’; ‘Upright and Active’; ‘Circuits’ and ‘Fit Bands’ programmes.
