The Great Tater Debater has proved once and for all that the best office spuds come from Petronella Hot Potato. Grown out of the Child Youth and Family office by Jill Goscomb, Petronella produced an impressive 430 grams of potatoes to take out the grand prize of biggest haul in the NPA potato growing competition.
Narrowley edging out colleague Bernadette Anne who produced 405g and Nicola from Nelson City Council with 400, Jill said she was very surprised with her prized patch.
“If you found a vegetable in my garden, it was because it dropped out of my shopping bag on the way up the path,” she said.
“I’ve never grown a vegetable before.
