There’s no reason why you can’t have some fun while raising funds for men’s health.
That’s what Movember is all about. However, it’s also a great opportunity for employers to educate staff about healthy practices.
Have a look at http://nz.movember.com, register a team, find out how to grow a mo, have some fun and help improve men’s health.
Here’s a message from Movember Ambassador, John McBeth that you might want to share around your workplace.
“It’s Movember time again and you are encouraged to support this important men’s health campaign during November.
While the campaign raises funds for men’s health programmes, prostate cancer research and male depression, it also urges men of all ages to think about, and take full responsibility for their health.
Health statistics indicate men are far less inclined than women to get regular checkups and they live on average 5 years less than females AND the suicide rate in New Zealand is 4 times higher for men than women.
Annually, over 2500 New Zealand men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, which rates with lung cancer and colorectal cancer as the leading causes of cancer related male deaths”
John urges all workplaces to register a team for this extremely worthwhile cause to have some fun while raising funds. It will benefit the health of all men.
Register on http://nz.movember.com. It doesn’t bind you to a donation, or growing a mustache, but it does ensure you’re part of our Movember participation.
Girls – no need to feel left out. Women are often the best team organisers and fundraisers. They’re also more likely to be the ones to push their blokes to get a checkup.
“Last year on November the 1st, I was greeted with a sign, which advised me the spare bed was made up! Moustache growing is not my forte, but I tried. It’s all fun and for a mighty cause.” John says.
Get your friends, family and work colleagues to support you on the website, and check out the ideas on how to fully embrace the Movember campaign.
HAVE FUN!
