Healthy Communities
Newsletter #32
July, 2011

About Us:

"The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating" (John Scharr)

Welcome to the Early Childhood edition of our newsletter.... We are a team of three Health Promoters who promote early access to health services, and promotion of programmes to support the best start in life for children. Our role involves working with, and establishing sustainable relationships with other health, education and social organisations.  Essentially we're about the whole whanau.

Monica:
Monica is based in Wairau and works part-time as an Early Child Health /  Adolescent Oral Health Promoter and Co-ordinator of the Marlborough Clued-Up Kids safety programme.
"I feel strongly that the opportunities of working with children, families and communities across a broad range of health and education settings may contribute to giving our small children a head start to the best possible outcomes in life."

Anne:
Anne is based in Nelson / Tasman and works as an Early Child Health Promoter and Adolescent Oral Health Coordinator from Monday to Friday.
"I am passionate about the under 5 age group and assisting with the laying down of foundation skills which will be used and further developed throughout  children's lives."

Coral:
Coral is based in Wairau and works across Te Tau Ihu O Te Waka A Maui (Nelson and Blenheim) Monday to Friday.  This Maori designated role does not preclude Coral from working with non Maori early childhood centres.
"I believe if we can build a solid trusting working relationship then we should be able to work together to explore ideas to support growth within your Early Childhood communities."

Don't forget to keep checking out Trolley Tips on our website (www.healthyas.org.nz) - it's regularly updated, and full of hearty, nutritious recipes using seasonal produce.  These recipes are not only healthy and tasty, but they're cheap and easy too.
