Speedy By Name, Speedy By Nature
David Speedy has been cycling for five years - a hobby that started humbly enough when he bought a hybrid bike from a garage sale.  The previous owner had ridden a similar cycle on the Round Taupo bike race and that got David thinking.  When he saw an ad for the 101km Marlborough Grape Ride he decided to enter with his (also novice bike rider) daughter.  They had from Christmas 'til April to get fit... Quiz For Kids - Update
The SportStart Quiz for Kids night held on the 19th November was a great success.  "We raised $2000 and had a great time doing it" said Way2Go Coordinator Marty Clark.  "That's enough funds to help nearly 70 more kids play sport."  Key to the success was the generous support of the sponsors.  "I really want to thank the sponsors who made the quiz night possible" said Marty.... (read more)

Newsletter #27
December, 2010

Here's Helen...

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support throughout the year, being interested in our newsletters and taking part in our whacky competitions.  Your enthusiasm and support for all that we are trying to achieve is appreciated.

It's been a year of transition for our team:  Don (Food Industry Programme Manager) to retirement, and Adam (Communications Coordinator) to Aquaculture NZ.  We have also co-located with the wider health promotion team at Public Health after moving office twice this year.  Fingers crossed that's it ..... for a while at least!

Until next time, Helen
