Newsletter #29 Here's
Helen... Welcome to our March newsletter! Can you believe we are almost a third of the way through 2011 already? With the kids safely ensconsed back in school, you may well be back at work yourself and pondering the age-old question "What are we going to have for dinner tonight?" Check out Trolley Tips for some inspiration. By making the most of seasonal produce, you'll find that meal preparation is cheaper than trying to buy goods out of season, or worse still imported! Tomatoes and corn are prolific right now and form the basis of this month's feature recipe ... check it out below. A great initiative taking place on April 2nd at Saxton Field is REPLAY - the collection of used, unwanted and in good condition sports gear. This is coordinated by the Rotary Club of Whakatu Nelson and offers a great opportunity to help out others less fortunate than ourselves, by providing good quality sports gear for them to use. Not only will you be giving someone the opportunity to try a new sport, you will be helping to keep our community active. See 'Upcoming Events' for more detail. While we're on the subject of sport - unless you're exercising hard for 3 hours or more, water is all that is required for rehydration. Fancy sports drinks are not as vital as manufacturers would have us believe. They're not good for our teeth, or our wallets. Until next time, Helen Helen Steenbergen Contact us: Nutrition and Physical Activity Team Helen Steenbergen Jenni Gane/Maria Baxter
