Healthy Communities Newsletter #35 October /
November 2012
November Thoughts...
November already? That
can only mean three things... It's time to plant your vegies;
start sprouting your moustache for Movember (men only for obvious
reasons), and be very afraid of christmas (Bah
humbug).
Dig in
and get growing....now is the time to get those summer
salad gardens planted for the barbecue season. Get
those salad greens in the ground and plant your cherry
tomatoes. There's nothing more satisfying or cheaper
than growing your own produce and serving up to friends
and whanau.
Have you
given any thought to gifting a food tree to the person who
has everything this year? Pretty to look at and tasty
too! Potted herbs are always an option as well .... tie a
bow round the pot and HO HO HO, it's a christmas gift!
You will
notice an over-abundance of facial hair on the streets this
month because of Movember! Grow your mo men, and support
men's health programmes, prostate cancer research and male depression.
Keep your eyes peeled for all shapes and sizes and if you're particularly
proud of your efforts in the mo growing stakes, send us a pic. We'll
publish it in our next newsletter (don't think name and shame -
think loud and proud!).
Looking
forward to hearing about your growing efforts (vegies AND
mo's)...
'til next
time...
